Montrose Point, May 2, 2018

A bit warmer today – nearly 80 degrees in the morning. Overcast. Not as much warbler variety today as yesterday. We did get a close fly by from a young Red-tailed Hawk. It was being harassed by Red-winged Blackbirds. It flew over the field into the large tree near the main harbor-side entrance. There it tore off a few bites of whatever it caught and then it was chased out and back over the field and over our heads. It came within 10 feet of us or so.

Coot Lake, Boulder, CO July 18, 2017

Hot day and a lot of the time there was no shade to be had. Clouds came in late, largely after we were done walking around the lake. The same place we were able to photograph the cowbird we also saw a Yellow Warbler. Really tried to get a photo, but to no avail. The photos of the hawk and kestrel were after the walk, seen early on our way to Longmont.
